Digital Press Finisher- 2nd Shift

Job Summary: Alcom is looking for a Digital Press Finisher on Second shift at our Harleysville, PA facility. In this position, you will perform manual and machine operator tasks in the set-up, production run, and maintenance of the digital printing finishing equipment. You will be responsible to meet on time delivery, high quality expectations, and customer specifications in a safe and efficient manner.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

• Oversees that all safety procedures are being followed and that any unsafe conditions are corrected or reported to the manager.
• Responsible to assist in training of new hires on digital finishing equipment.
• Ability to read and understand the job jacket to set-up the job based on those instructions.
• Visually inspects product and uses measuring instruments to check conformance with job specifications.
• Responsible to establish and maintain the quality of a job within the tolerances.
• Uses all technologies, features, and materials necessary to maximize productivity during the production of jobs.
• Inputs accurate information into the data collection process.
• Performs preventative maintenance on all digital finishing equipment as needed.
  Responsible for recording all repairs and maintenance in maintenance log books.
• Responsible for maintaining and understanding all tools and instruments to operate and maintain the digital finishing equipment.
• Informs Supervisor as to parts or service required to keep digital finishing equipment performing at the maximum level.
• Takes cutting orders and sets up cutter in accordance with instructions.
• Sets automatic programs into machines for maximum productivity.
• Performs job make-ready by setting up and adjusting cutter, feeder, folder, stitcher, perfect binder, three-knife trimmer, drill press and/or delivery.
• Closely observes materials delivered off machine to ensure that it is maintaining quality standards.

Job Requirements:

The ability to read and understand written instructions on a job jacket, or from a supervisor to set-up the digital finishing equipment and carry out instructions to produce a job. Ability to read and understand written instructions including those dealing with dimensions and quantity. Good knowledge of cutter machine operation and set-up practices. Knowledge of the operation and function of other digital finishing equipment and machinery. Good math skills and knowledge of simple computer operations. Thorough knowledge of problem-solving techniques. Knowledge of all procedures required to safely operate a guillotine cutting machine and associated finishing equipment.
Must be able to lift 40lbs occasionally.

Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or GED plus experience or vocational/technical degree. Bindery/Finishing experience required.
