Do you print for SUNY, “I Love NY”, State Insurance Fund, Erie County Medical Center, Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York State Department of Health (or any publicly funded entity in New York State)?
If so, this work is in jeopardy! Even if you don’t print for one of these taxpayer-funded organizations, this issue should concern you.
New York State Industries for the Disabled (NYSID) has filed an application to become a “Preferred Source” for all state and local taxpayer funded digital printing from these entities, and others like it, which will be produced for mail delivery.
As a “Preferred Source”, NYSID will be first in line for projects such as:
– Personalized mailed material for SUNY
– Personalized mailed registration information for the NYS Department of Motor Vehicles
– Personalized mailed billing information for the local water authority
– Personalized mailed invitations to a local public museum fundraiser
The list is pretty endless!
If you don’t act immediately, this will become a reality!
Under New York State law, a “Preferred Source” vendor takes precedence over all other preference designations, including “Women Owned”, Minority Owned” and of course, just “Owned”.
Here is what you need to do right now!

Then write New York State Office of General Services Commissioner RoAnn Destito to express your concern: (click here for pre-written letter)

Time is of the essence! A final decision on this issue will be made at a New York State Procurement Council on July 14, 2016. Please voice your concern about the loss of well-paying manufacturing jobs and the elimination of competition that will be caused if the NYSID application is approved.
