Hitting the Content Bullseye

Good morning!

One of my daily LinkedIn posts received a comment that made me laugh, then nod, then think. It read, in part, “Get out of my head, Bill Farquharson!” Guess I hit the mark with that one!

When it comes to creating content, many of us struggle. We want to write things that are interesting, but we don’t automatically or organically know what that is. Here’s what I do and how I think when it comes to achieving the goal of writing something my clients and potential clients read and appreciate…

Do you remember the movie, “I Know What You Did Last Summer?” Personally, I never saw it. I still remember sleeping with the lights on after seeing The Exorcist and I’ve done everything I can to avoid horror movies ever since. If I’m not mistaken, the basic plot is that a bunch of kids did something bad one summer, someone saw it and terrorizes them for the rest of the movie.

Follow that pattern…save for the terrorizing.

Let me say that differently.

In order for it to resonate, your content must show you understand the needs of your intended clientele and have solved them for others. If it were a movie, it would be called, “I Get You.” So, what issues are your clients struggling with?

Write about that.
